My Books are here! Truth is, they’ve been there for a while. It’s one thing to write and publish. It is another thing to market and share and notify and promote.
For reasons, I deleted my Facebook and Twitter and I am only on Instagram currently. I also took a hiatus on that and my main focus there was mostly unrelated to writing. I focused on nature photography.
So how is one to advertise?!
I also did what every good writer should do and that is submit to online magazines.
Over the years, I have had many short stories and poems published on Commuter lit. So many that when I tried to find them, I couldn’t find them all!
But it is good for a writer to have some exposure and also it is a true pleasure when one’s piece is accepted. It means that as a writer I connected with the reader. I did my job properly.
Also…Whenever I get published on the site, I can link to my books. So there is an opportunity to find readers there.
If you haven’t already try submitting short pieces to online publications.
Also, you will notice that I use the draft to digital publishing site. This site is great because it publishes all your books to every e-book seller possible and also alerts you when those sellers offer promotional opportunities such as the one coming up for smash words, for which the blurb (slightly edited) they provided is here:
Hello, Readers! Julie Johnson is excited to announce that her poetry anthologies and comedy novels Hill ofGreens and The Daisy Chain will be available as part of a promotion on Smashwords for the month of July as part of their Annual Summer/Winter Sale! This is a chance to get my books, along with books from many other great authors, at a discount so you can get right to reading. You will find the promo here starting on July 1, so save the link:
https://www.smashwords.com/shelves/promos/ Please share this promo with friends and family. Thank you for your help and support! You can also find all of my books listed here, and these are available at all major ebook sellers: https://books2read.com/ap/8NkGZz/Julie-Johnson Happy reading!
You will also notice that I took the time to create what are (to me), clever and intriguing book covers- see image below or click on the link to see the books.
But that only works if people can see the covers… How do I get people to see the covers?
Where else do I find readers? This is a question I will ponder over the next few months.
Come, join me as I explore marketing options! And ask questions like:
Is social media necessary for advertising self publishing works? Or are there other things I could be doing?
I remember when social media was new and exciting and it seemed like the best way to connect with an audience. But much has happened since those sites launched and I’m not sure that’s the best route anymore…
What do other writers think?
How do we best find readers?
How do we get our self published pieces out there?
This will be my inquiry. I’ll let you know what happens. 😀
